Freixenet

Description

This is a high quality vintage reserva Cava. Pale yellow in colour, with some touches of green. There is a fine, abundant, persistent mousse, which rises quickly in the glass to form a good crown. The nose is refreshing and appealing, with notes of white fruits – pear and apple, and rich Mediterranean fruit, predominantly peach, with a nice citrus backdrop.Very lively on the palate, full of complex flavours, fruity notes dominating, but well balanced by a fine, integrated sparkle in a refreshing, most agreeable finish.

Over 150 years ago, in the small Catalan town of Sant Sarduní d´Anoia the Sala and Ferrer families were well-known winemakers of quality wines. At the beginning of the 20th century the families were joined by the marriage of Dolores Sala and Pedro Ferrer Bosh. The young couple formed an unrivalled team, Dolores ahead of her time in detailed winemaking knowledge and Pedro, a bright young entrepreneur. Together they succeeded in gaining popularity and reputation for their wines and their hard work and determination was the start of Freixenet as we know it today.Till this day Freixenet is run by Pedro and Dolores grandchildren and is 100% family owned.
