Child and youth groups

Youth groups (under valid minimum age limits) are welcome on board for trips organised by a school, sports club or other registered organisation. The group must be accompanied by a supervisor(s) as part of the group, such as parents, club leaders, teachers or other designated personnel — with a minimum of one supervisor for every 10 participants.

Agreement for maintaining safety and lawful order on board

The youth group leader is responsible for the group on board and shall be requested to sign the 'Agreement for maintaining safety and lawful order on board'. Responsibilities include group supervision throughout the voyage and compliance with the vessel's rules of order. In the event of disturbances, the group leader must assist the ship's staff and follow their instructions. The personal information of each group member must appear in the list of participants. The reservation must be made as a group booking.

A youth group is defined as a group consisting mainly of young people.

Journeys

  1. The trip is organised by a school, sport's club or other association. The trip is booked in the name of the organiser, and the group leader is responsible for the booking.
  2. The group must be accompanied by a leader with a verifiable connection to the group, for example, a teacher, parent or the leader of the association. A minimum of one leader per every 10 participants is required. The leader of the youth group must be at least 25 years of age. Exception: a teacher/leader of the association under the age of 25 is accepted as a leader when travelling with their own school class/team. The leader's connection to the group must be verified with appropriate documentation. Youth groups must use a separate passenger list form.
  3. There are a limited number of places for young groups on board. Cruises available for youth groups are limited to those cruises where the group spends the day at the destination, archipelago cruises from Stockholm and Turku, and hotel packages. Youth groups can travel on route trips. Other options and all journeys on Birka Gotland are not open to youth groups.
  4. Youth groups are always priced according to the standard price list; special offers cannot be used.
