Transport of weapons and ammunition on board

  • Passengers are not permitted to bring firearms on board. The term firearms refers to weapons, weapon components or replicas, deactivated weapons or other weapon-like objects. This prohibition also includes projectile weapons powered by pneumatic or gas-propellant systems.
  • Firearms may not be transported during cruises.
  • Under certain circumstances, however, legal firearms may be brought on board for regular route travel, provided the passenger declares the firearm in advance when booking the journey. Legal firearms refer to weapons intended for hunting or sport shooting, for which the user holds a valid licence.
  • In accordance with the above, firearms not requiring a licence and intended for hobby use (e.g. paintball or soft air guns) may also be transported, provided they are declared at the time of booking.
  • The user or owner of any licensed firearm must carry valid documentation and licences during the journey. The weapon must comply with all applicable laws and regulations at both the departure and arrival locations. These documents must be available for inspection by port or other relevant authorities. Passengers are responsible for obtaining all relevant information and familiarising themselves with applicable rules.
  • Firearms must be transported inside a vehicle and in accordance with relevant legislation. Weapons must be unloaded, stored in appropriate cases and kept out of sight, and the vehicle must remain locked for the duration of the journey. Passengers travelling without a vehicle may not bring firearms on board.
  • Ammunition may only be transported in connection with the associated firearm. The maximum allowance is 20 rifle cartridges and/or 50 shotgun cartridges. If you need to carry more than the permitted allowance, for example, when travelling to a shooting competition, you must contact our Customer Service to request approval.
  • The ship's car deck remains locked for the duration of the journey.

Booking and check-in of weapons and ammunition

  • The transport of weapons in a vehicle must be declared at the time of booking. This must be documented by the booking agent, and the booking must be made through Customer Service.
  • In addition, passengers must inform check-in staff of any weapons or ammunition being transported.
  • Security staff in the harbour and on board must be notified internally of all declared weapon transports.
  • Any undeclared weapons or ammunition discovered on board will be reported to security personnel and confiscated.
