Freixenet

Description

A classic Cava created from an equal proportion of Macabeo, Xarel·lo and Parellada, indigenous to the Penedes region. Mid sized bubbles forming a good crown. Fresh and appealing on the nose. Elegantly floral, with notes of fresh apple and some subtle notes of citrus. Well structured in the palate, refreshing, softly balanced acidity with a lively sparkle and a very attractive floral finish.

Over 150 years ago, in the small Catalan town of Sant Sarduní d´Anoia the Sala and Ferrer families were well-known winemakers of quality wines. At the beginning of the 20th century the families were joined by the marriage of Dolores Sala and Pedro Ferrer Bosh. The young couple formed an unrivalled team, Dolores ahead of her time in detailed winemaking knowledge and Pedro, a bright young entrepreneur. Together they succeeded in gaining popularity and reputation for their wines and their hard work and determination was the start of Freixenet as we know it today.Till this day Freixenet is run by Pedro and Dolores grandchildren and is 100% family owned.
