The legendary group Hariolax is known by all dance music enthusiasts. The band enjoyed great popularity on dance floors already in the 1980s, but it was the Syksyn Sävel competition that finally brought them to the attention of the entire nation. TV exposure helped record sales, and from Syksyn Sävel in 1984, 1986, and 1987, the songs "Sot, sot sot", "Salaperäinen nainen", and "Oi Isabella" became successful records. Hariolax's second album sold over 15,000 copies, and the album's hit was the song "Hawajin yö". Hariolax was seen on TV in shows like Lauantaitanssit, Kevään sävel, Levyraati, the Miss Finland final, and one summer Hariolax toured as MTV's summer dance band. The versatile group's repertoire included both humorous performances and more serious music. Almost all of Hariolax's production was composed, written, and arranged by the band's singer Jukka Koivisto (1953-2009). Out of love for the genre, the musicians have played a few joint gigs and concerts, which sparked the desire to tour more. This "new-old" lineup includes Arto Nuotio & Jussi Lammela as well as Hannu Pärssinen, Jyrki Lehti, Kari Lehtomäki, Reijo Ylinen, and Arto Hyötyläinen.
